PBS' Lehrer is just MAD for Vonnegut
20.05.12
Consummate newsman Jim Lehrer will be a part of an unlikely double bill in Indianapolis April 14 with MAD magazine's senior editor Joe Raiola .
Lehrer, who stepped down last year from his long run as the regular anchor on "PBS NewsHour," will be the keynote speaker for the third annual "Night of Vonnegut" gala at the Athenaeum Theatre, 401 E. Michigan St.
Lehrer, who still serves as the PBS show's executive editor, reportedly ranks Kurt Vonnegut's "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" among his top six favorite books.
He'll be joined on stage by Raiola, who will perform his acclaimed one-man show "The Joy of Censorship."
WISH-8's Jim Shella will emcee the event, which benefits Indianapolis' Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library, 340 N. Senate Ave. Vonnegut, an Indianapolis native and literary icon, died in 2007.
Tickets are $75 per person. For more information, call the library at (317) 652-1954 or visit vonnegutlibrary.org/events.
