Boardwalk at Auburn Environmental Park: 9 a.m.-1 p.m., March 24, 31. Meet at the bird viewing tower entrance on the west of Western Avenue Northwest, approximately a quarter-mile north of its intersection with West Main Street. Help needed. City staff, contractors and volunteers look to apply finishing touches, including landscaping, benches, picnic tables, directional signs, bicycle racks and interpretive signage. The City’s first elevated boardwalk in a wetland is close to being finished with a grand opening celebration set for April 5. Volunteers should dress appropriate to weather conditions and are encouraged to bring boots, gloves and shovels. For more information, call 253-876-1962.
Greater Auburn Community Career Conference: 8 a.m.-1 p.m., March 27, Grace Community Church, 1320 Auburn Way S. Auburn School District and Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce host. More than 50 businesses and post-secondary institutions that will conduct student interviews and provide career information. Students will discover a variety of career pathways and opportunities, as well procure firsthand knowledge and support from local businesses and leaders. Conference sponsors are: Auburn Regional Medical Center, Exotic Metals Forming, Kiwanis Club of Auburn, Lion’s Club, MultiCare, Mutual of Enumclaw, Rotary, Soroptimist of Auburn, and Waste Management.
