Easter, Passover gift sales exceeding expectations in The Villages

THE VILLAGES — William Wood spent considerable time Wednesday morning searching for the perfect Easter cards at the Brook’s Hallmark Gold Crown store at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square.
Just down the aisle, Stuart Lipman browsed the selection of Passover cards stocked at the Canal Street store.
These Villagers’ purchasing decisions this week illustrated a strong economic dynamic leading up to these very important religious holidays.
Villages-area residents apparently plan to spend as much, if not more, per capita than neighbors throughout the state and country in the days and weeks leading up to the two holidays.
Such importance explained why Wood, a Village of Duval resident, invested substantial time in selecting the cards he purchased for daughter Stacy Fine, her husband, Kris, and granddaughters Addison, 3, and Emily, 1.
“Sometimes we’re lost for words, but these cards express what we feel inside,” Wood said of why he chose the cards he bought for his daughter and granddaughters.
