Youth Basketball: St. Apollinaris March Madness eighth-grade tournament
In the girls bracket, Holy Spirit defeated Anette’s Chocolates, 34-11, by pulling away in the second half with a strong defensive effort. Holy Spirit was led by Justine Ramos with nine points. Simrun Bawa had four points for Anette’s.
St. Apollinaris advanced to the championship game with a very well-rounded attack to defeat St. John’s of Napa, 43-22. St. A’s was led by Gianna Gagatta’s 14 points and Sheila Campbell’s 10. St. John’s played tough to the end and was led by Kimmy Fernandez’s six points.
In the boys bracket, St. Francis used its size and strength to defeat a very gritty St. A’s team, 56-45. St. Francis was led by Conor McCarthy’s 22 points and Gavin Orr’s 16. James Bickford scored 21 of his 27 points in the second half.
In the finale, St. John’s Lutheran beat a very good St. Vincent’s squad, 55-35.
Last year’s MVP, Colton Forster, came through big for the Eagles with 28 points. Brendan Peterson chipped in 15. St. Vincent’s was led by Justin Solon’s 11.
Hofer also had wearability in mind by producing draped and tailored separates as well as electric-pleated long dresses in dramatic colors like teal, aubergine and chocolate brown. His materials included faux leather, cotton and silk for the tailored
