Authors get creative promoting their books
) Has done some fun stuff on her website: "There are beautifully designed Easter Eggs sprinkled throughout, for example. If a reader clicks on one, it brings up a snippet of background information (often a photo of an actor the hero resembles, for example). But the next time she checks that particular page, there may be no egg, or a different egg, in the same spot. Readers really love the eggs, and look forward to finding them."But don't get distracted
Eden points out that promotional efforts can distract authors from what they should be doing: "I really feel like the most effective form of promotion is just to keep releasing good books. I think some writers get too caught up in the promotional process. They spend too much time looking for the next big 'thing' — I prefer to spend the bulk of my time writing. I try to release as many quality books as I can for my readers. The more good books that I have out there, then the more word-of-mouth readers can spread about my work."
