Homemade goodies served at 'Valentine's Day Sweets & Treats'
22.05.12
A community of 20 Palm Beach women vested in their joy of baking as mothers, daughters and friends fired up their ovens to produce a showcase of more than 4,000 cookies, chocolates and other desserts. The bakers filled the Palm Beach residence of Kathy and Paul Leone with their creations to support West Palm Beach's Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness.
On Feb. 10 more than 200 guests congregated in the Leone's oceanic cottage at The Breakers for the "Valentine's Day Sweets & Treats" event, organized by chairs Darcie Glazer Kassewitz, Sara McCann, Nancy Richter and Kathy Leone, together with the beneficiary's founder/CEO, Johanna S. Kandel of the Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness. Guests had the opportunity to fill a box with 12 handmade treats of their choice. Eight desserts, each full of color and creativity, were awarded to winners via a Chinese raffle. Items from the raffle included: a jewelry box of fondant baubles created by Laura Munder; a macaroon tower by Jennifer Reed of the Sugar Monkey; a sock monkey by Mindy Kino; and a cake topped with three-dimensional love birds by Allyson Marrell of Bake A Wish.
